The primary role of a security guard is to protect property and individuals. This responsibility encompasses a range of activities aimed at maintaining safety and security in various environments, whether it be in a residential area, commercial facility, or event venue. By serving as a visible deterrent to criminal activity and responding to incidents, security guards play a crucial role in preserving the safety of people and the integrity of property.

While monitoring security cameras can be part of a security guard's duties, it is not their sole function or primary focus. Similarly, conducting criminal investigations falls outside the typical purview of a security guard, as this is usually reserved for law enforcement officers who have the necessary training and authority. Although security guards may assist local law enforcement, this cooperation is not the primary role. Instead, the primary function is centered around proactive prevention and immediate response to threats, which aligns with their core mission of protecting both people and property.
